LSCEX is a relaxed, friendly place for everything to do with coins. We buy, sell, and trade US coins and tokens, offer appraisals and consignments, and are pleased to work with estates. Whether your coins are an unexpected discovery, an occasional pastime, or you're building an advanced Bust Half, Seated Quarter, or other American type set — we'd be pleased to have the chance to help.
Our showcases hold many kinds of coins and tokens, especially pre-1940s US issues. You'll find coins of all denominations, loose and in slabs, with an emphasis on US type coins — Bust, Seated, Barber, and other series of historical importance. If we don't already have it, let us know what you're looking for and we'll bring in material that may interest you.
LSCEX buys and sells gold and silver bullion, in the form of coins, at very competitive prices. Due to Maryland laws, we do not buy or sell jewelry or precious metals in any form other than coinage.
We stock a variety of supplies: Dansco and Whitman albums, cardboard and plastic flips, boxes, loupes, coin tubes, the Red Book, and more. If you need supplies that aren't in stock, we'll get them for you at competitive prices.
Not sure what you've got or what it's worth? We're happy to provide informal (free) appraisals for small quantities of material you bring to the shop. To establish the value of larger collections, and for legal purposes, we also provide formal written appraisal services. We can also advise you on proper storage of your coins to avoid environmental and other damage.
Managing an estate is an emotional time when families can be taken advantage of by unscrupulous buyers, particularly if the administrator is not knowledgeable about coins, or if heirs are in a hurry. LSCEX will help you avoid estate pitfalls and maximize value. We will buy or place any quality US coin collection, including high-value collections, or act as an advisor on valuation and markets.
Some coins can take years, even decades, to find. Missing that Carson City dime, San Francisco quarter, or Dahlonega gold? Need an unusual overdate or scarce variety? Show us your want list. We have extensive industry contacts and work coin shows from West Texas to Pennsylvania.
At our discretion, we accept consignments to offer for sale at LSCEX or at coin shows in the region and beyond. Ask about details.
Counterfeiting is a real problem. Our shop is equipped to nondestructively evaluate the precious metal content of coins, rounds, bars, and some other gold, silver, and platinum objects.
Our numismatic library, which includes some difficult-to-find books, is available for your use while visiting. It includes the standard references for many US series, price guides, and copies of the journals of numerous coin clubs. We also have state token catalogs for many Southern and Southwestern states.
